New Year vacation, I watched a bunch of movies/shows. And…

Sherlock Holmes (2009) was disappointing. The character developement felt hushed and shortcutted, the interaction was pushed. The romance didn’t work. Ah!

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009): How can a movie suck so bad!! Bad acting, bad story, bad lines, confusing editing. Please try tell at least one good story instead of 10 bad stories.

Burn after Reading: It certainly was funny. I am not sure if I like the dictorial choices. Lots of acting were bit overdone.  They did spent quite a bit of screen time on character developement but the story started slow too. Mid way the pot of stew finally got all stired together and started to smell good.

Food Inc. Good “horror” film, seeing the chicken and cow farm. Scary. It did try to cover all basis but the organic part felt like a big warm ads instead of a balanced documentary, especially the super-sized commercial organic part. I did like Joel Salatin very much. He has a book too: Salad Bar Beef. Sadly, I think that ideal farming theory is only achievable in a small (AKA low production) business setting. Much like all the small business entities in this town, once you have employees, things get out of hand. Once you have other people supervise your business, you business takes off in a different direction. Once you try to lower your cost by massive production, you product becomes something else.

Califonication. 3 episodes and I gave up. So many good reviews. I just hate the show! I didn’t find the humor funny. The production felt cheap. And I just cannot watch a bitter drunk loser for one whole season. The ex does nothing but fliring with him.  I don’t see a “responsible, grounding” mother.  All women talk in the same way, flirt in the same way, rip their top off after 5 lines. I mean, come on, I don’t mind some skin but please be a little creative? Some intelligence? cute? even some good old country fart would be a nice variation…… Hollywood loves to shoehorn itself into a stereotype and even brings down the whole state with it.  Ah… I wish I could deal with it longer and see a turn somewhere down the season.

To be continued:

Avatar 3D is still on my list. But the one line review I heard “it’s a moral story” kind of makes me unwilling….3D would be cool but wide eyed human birds flying around in a jungle…huh…
