From Pure White Shadow again:

One night, LiJiang dreamt of XuYan again. She was wearing a white dress, dancing in the moonlight bare-footed. He walked over, trying to hold her hands.   She suddenly disappeared like the air.  In the void darkness, LiJiang cried out loud. His voice broke up in the wind but it was futile. He woke up. There was only the yellow ceiling hanging inches from his head. Outside, the sky started to light up a little. The rest of the world was still asleep.

One night, King Solomon heard a sentence in his dream. He woke up terrified. But he forgot what it was. He gathered all wise men in the world and asked them to find it. Three months later, they presented unto Solomon a ring with this sentence engraved inside:

Everything will be gone.

Really, everything will be gone. The days of smiling and tearing. The love we had. The eyes of the lover. Just like the astrologists say: all galaxies are leaving us because it is still an expanding universe. Just like Desire.

What’s left is the past. The broken pieces of the past. However, the opportunity to recollect hasn’t yet come. The sun has not quite set but the birds are already scattering.

What can you do. When you know something as beautiful as fireworks won’t last. You try to live in the moment. You try to replay the moment again and again in your mind. But you can only remember less and less when days go by… Smile won’t stop the train. Tear won’t stop the train either. It just keeps going the other way….

Everything will be gone
